Samsung, LGD, and Apple are working on 20-inch foldable devices

Samsung executives attended the SID Review event held in Yisan dong business district in Seoul, South Korea, to review the difficulties and problems encountered in developing foldable devices, Apple is currently working with Samsung Display and LG Display to develop 20-inch foldable devices.
At the event, Baek Seung-in, executive director of Samsung Display, explained the technical difficulties encountered by current foldable devices, including foldable cracks, foldable creases, stylus problems, folding torque, compression stress, screen deformation, etc. He said improving the crease issue has been a priority for them and while some progress has been made, it is still not fully resolved.
Baek Seung-in also revealed that they are currently working with LG Display to develop a foldable 20-inch tablet-laptop hybrid device for Apple, although he admitted that more time is needed to prepare the project. In February, it was reported that Apple was working on a 20.5-inch foldable laptop that could be released as soon as 2025. The news has not yet been officially confirmed by Apple.
As foldable devices have become the hot direction of mobile technology in recent years, different brands have invested in research and development. The cooperation between Apple and Samsung and LG Display has attracted much attention, and users' expectations for such a 20-inch foldable device have also increased.
