Samsung in the second quarter of 2023, the market share of 21%, the market share remained unchanged year-on-year; In the first quarter of 2023, Apple's market share was 17%, and its market share remained unchanged year-on-year; Xiaomi had a 13% market share in the first quarter of 2023. Market share decreased by 7.14% year-on-year; OPPO in the first quarter of 2023, the market share of 10%, the market share remained unchanged year-on-year; vivo in the first quarter of 2023, the market share was 8%, and the market share declined by 11.11% year-on-year.
Although from the data released by Canalys, the market share does not seem to have changed much, but in the context of the market shipment decline of 11%, even if the market share is unchanged, shipments will inevitably decline.
In addition, Counterpoint also released the second quarter of the global mobile phone market data, in the second quarter of 2023, global smartphone sales fell 8% year-on-year and 5% quarter-on-quarter. Samsung ranked first, with a market share of 22%, market share remained unchanged, and shipments declined 12% year-on-year; Apple ranked second, with a market share of 17%, with a 6.25% increase in market share and a 2% decline in shipments. For the high-end market that mobile phone manufacturers focus on, Apple's dominance remains unshaken. According to Counterpoint data, in the second quarter of 2023, Apple accounted for more than one-fifth of the high-end market segment.
Apple has also exploded in the Indian market. According to statistics released by Counterpoint Research, in the second quarter of 2023, the Indian market shipments increased by 50% year-on-year, and the revenue performance exceeded that of France and Germany for the first time, becoming Apple's fifth largest iPhone market. Compared with Apple's lofty progress, Xiaomi has suffered a blow in the Indian market. For example, Xiaomi was confiscated by the Indian authorities 55.51 billion rupees (about 4.82 billion yuan) of funds.
Xiaomi has also lost market share in India. According to Counterpoint data, in the first quarter of 2022, Xiaomi ranked first in the Indian market with a 23% market share. The global mobile phone market is not far from spring. Analysts at Canalys said that the smartphone market is sending early signs of recovery after six consecutive quarters of decline, and smartphone inventory has been cleared as smartphone vendors prioritize clearing out old models to make room for new product launches. Counterpoint also said that the global mobile phone market is expected to recover slowly in the coming quarters.
